Sail away: Add ships being dragged along by giant kites to the list of things the industry is exploring in its quest to decarbonize. At the start of next year, the 154-meter (500-foot) Ville de Bordeaux will unfurl a 500-square-meter kite on journeys across the Atlantic Ocean in a trial run. Airseas, which developed the Seawing kite, estimates a parafoil twice that size can cut fuel consumption and emissions from vessels by about 20%.
