Spurious Correlations

The below spurious correlations come from http://www.tylervigen.com/ (credit M. Massaro for bringing this to my attention). Visit Tyler's website for more odd correlations.

More now than ever before, we are inundated with large quantities of computer processed information and data. One result of this: we quite often, upon seeing just a correlation, wrongly jump ahead and assume a causal relationship. Or NPR, CNN or FOX News does this for us. I wonder how long it will take us to get on board with the fact that when you can compare trends of thousands (or millions) of different variables, correlation by itself means next to nothing.
