Faysal Hannêche, a frenchman,  just wrapped up his solo attempt to cross Antarctica.   He was using kites and skis.  Below are some words and some recent photos from his website.  

The antarctic landscape is awsome.  What I would do to go on an adventure like this!

I love the desert and the cold. There are more than 10 years, I set myself a challenge: to cross Antarctica alone and without support. This year, I am able to reach 2 poles alone and without support (no assistance during the progression) and I want to be the first one to do.

• April 2013: I made ​​the first part of my project after an increase of 14 daysand a little less than 400 km on the Arctic ice to reach the North Pole onMonday, April 15, 2013 .

• November 2013: I have to start my progression in Antarctica for a journey of 80 days, 3500 km . I will cross the Antarctic continent via the South Pole.

I like the desert and the big cold. More than 10 years ago, I-settled a challenge: single-handed cross the Antarctica and without support. This year, I am ble of reaching 2 pole single-handed and without support (no support falling on the progress) and I wish to be the first one to make it.

• In April, 2013: I Realized the first portion of my project Effective progress was falling on 14 days and a little less of 400 km on the Arctic ice floe to reach the North Pole Monday, April 15th, 2013 .

• In November, 2013: I have to begin my progress in Antarctica for a trip of80 days, 3500 km . I would cross the Antarctica by way of the South Pole.
