Corning, NY October 4th, 2012
For almost 2 full workdays now Corning Incorporated employees in Research and Headquarters offices have had no email. For some as-yet undisclosed reason Microsoft Outlook has not been working. Does anyone know what's up?
Outlook is the end-point/client for email. It exists as a number of instances each running on a client machine. It is just a piece of software - the end-point for email can just as easily be a webpage (and often is). It is a processing tool.
ReplyDeleteThus the chance that Outlook is broken for many people at once is slim to none. It's possible but unlikely, as there's no connection between the instances of the client program.
The email server system that Corning uses along with Outlook is what is most likely broken. And if you're certain it's a Microsoft email server product, it's probably called Exchange.
As for what's wrong with it, someone should call the IT department.
